Medical Cannabis Saved My Life

After a road trip to and from California early in 2018, my pre-existing lower back issues flared up, and I went to see a Chiropractor. He was not helpful, and in fact, he injured my back during the two sessions I had with him.

This lower back/sciatic nerve pain kept me from sleeping most of the night. It was so intense in the morning that I would walk around the house “squealing” in pain. This went on for several months with no relief. This was upsetting for my husband, so I suggested he walk the dog before I got up so he wouldn’t hear it.

This started a 6 months journey of extreme daily pain and multiple visits to different kinds of health care providers; first, a Rheumatologist who tried to scare me into taking RA meds. He told me I could be paralyzed from the neck down if I didn’t take his recommended pharmaceutical drugs. I quickly fired him.

I also tried Acupuncture with little results, some massage, and finally, the UNM Center for Spine Health. They were very thorough and caring. They also recommended pharmaceutical medications and a spinal epidural for pain relief, along with PT sessions at their facility. I had already been seeing a PT who I really liked; however, those PT sessions exacerbated my pain rather than helped it.

I was determined to get relief from the pain that didn’t involve pharmaceuticals. I usually became fully awake from the pain around three or four in the morning. I took one aspirin with a small chunk of banana to protect my stomach.

I continued to refuse all pain meds because I can’t stand being “out of it” and was fearful of becoming addicted.

I was becoming hopeless about relieving my pain until I watched a two-part, very informative documentary called The Sacred Plant. They were eye-opening, and I realized I could benefit from using Medical Cannabis and CBD.

When we lived in California, I used Medical Cannabis for 4 years to sleep at night, consuming a very low-dose edible 2-hours before sleep which did the trick.

After I got a Medical Cannabis (MC) card in New Mexico, I went to a great dispensary run by RNs. They also carried CBD and told me how to use it. Because I was in so much pain, I had previously taken too much Medical Cannabis and CBD. This practice overstimulated my Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and, instead of providing relief, made me tired, dizzy, and out of it.

So, what did I do?

  1. Kept my low-dose nighttime MC edible routine as it did help me get to sleep.
  2. Started using an Organic, Full Spectrum CBD tincture and slowly increased the dose until I “felt better”.
  3. Because I was “experienced,” I was instructed to use a THC-CBD tincture at night when I awakened from the pain.

After 3-4 months, this regimen helped me become essentially pain-free. I stopped taking the aspirin and banana on August 27th, 2018, and began to sleep longer at night and awaken in the morning with little to no pain. I can now bend over in the morning after I get out of bed without any pain. And now there is NO Need for an epidural!

The pain blessing brought me an awareness of how I had been continually forcing my body to overwork. Having never really listened to its’ signals, I had to build in love for my body as my partner. I began to develop an expanded awareness of what it needed from moment to moment.

I was so impressed and grateful for my pain relief that I wanted to learn more about Medical Cannabis and help educate others.

I did some research and found Dr. Dustin Sulak’s online course, which included a Cannabis Core Curriculum and Dosage Protocols & Methodology. After a year of intensive work and study, I received my Certificate of Completion as a Healer Certified Medical Cannabis Wellness Advisor.

My 5 years of experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician in California has given me a solid medical background in anatomy & physiology, pharmacology, and human behavior.

My extensive training and experience with NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) as a Coach, Master Practitioner, and Health Practitioner allow me to help my clients with limiting beliefs, creating a desirable future, and developing an ongoing healthy lifestyle.

I’ve developed an online class, Introduction to Medical Cannabis: You Don’t Have to Get High to Be Healed, which will be offered again in mid-August. I also offer a Medical Cannabis Consultation Program for those who want more specific information and guidance related to their personal medical situation.

If you’re interested in either of these programs, schedule a Virtual Chat with me, http://bit.ly/3GEKV1h

I’m doing the work I’ve been called to do, and I feel so blessed!
